Sobieszewska Island was shaped by two historical events. In 1840, the Vistula River broke the dunes near the village of Górki and created Śmiała Wisła. 1895 was the end of the great engineering project of digging the Vistula River at Świbno. On the 180th and 125th anniversary of these events, the City of Gdańsk and local activists are preparing a number of anniversary events. On the initiative of the Wyspa Association, an application was created that collects all the most important information about the history and present of this unique district of Gdańsk.
