Why is the first name toolbox called Horstomat?
The app is about baby names and as we all know, the stork brings babies and the stork lives in the eyrie. That's why the app is called Horstomat.

Where does the data come from?
The diagrams, maps and German lists are based on a representative sample of birth reports from Germany that Knud Bielefeld (first name expert and publisher of this app) created. The international lists come from the statistical authorities of the states.

Why is the Horstomat not free?
Developing a smartphone app costs money. Some apps finance their development costs through advertising. Horstomat, on the other hand, is ad-free. Some apps collect data from their users and use it profitably. The Horstomat, on the other hand, does not transmit any user data. None at all. I don't know who uses the app, when or where, or which names are queried there. Because I don't want to pay the development costs with my pocket money, I ask for a small one-time contribution. No advertising, no user data, no in-app purchases.
