In 2015, when we created Micolet, in Spain buying second-hand clothes was still an experience reserved for a young, urban and modern public. In addition, sustainability in fashion was an unknown subject for the vast majority of the population.
The current reality is very different. 38% of women already buy second-hand clothes, and purchases by generations X and Baby boomers are the ones that have experienced the most growth.
Buyers of brands such as Gucci or Louis Vuitton also buy and sell clothes on the second-hand market. Both practices that could have suffered a social stigma in the past, today are a common dynamic in the wardrobes of Spanish women and are motivated, among other things, by an unprecedented environmental awareness.
