With the help of the “Flower Walks” app, these and numerous other secrets will be revealed on 71 botanical forays. The entertaining hikes lead to a wide variety of landscapes and regions throughout Switzerland. On the forays, plants and habitats are presented with photos and exciting background information if they can be seen by the wayside. In this way, the users of the app can explore the variety of flowers at their own pace on every foray. Interesting facts are explained for each plant species, for example on naming, strategies for attracting pollinators or medicinal use. In addition, the time of flowering, the protection status and the red list status of all species are listed. In total, the “Flower Walks” app presents over 1100 plant species and 77 habitats across the country - that corresponds to a quarter of all plant species and habitats known throughout Switzerland. The range of species and the content of the app are tailored to both interested laypeople and advanced botanists.
