2025-07-19 00:00:00 The History of PEG PESE Facing difficult times in Europe in the 50s, the Damião family leaves everything behind embarking on a ship with the hope of a better future in Brazil. With an entrepreneurial spirit, despite great difficulties when they arrived in the country, they begin their activities by buying goods at the Mercadão Municipal de São Paulo with a cart and selling them at street fairs in the South Zone of the city. In the middle of 1967, Baltazar Damião, at 18, took over the business that, at the time, was just a fair stand and in what would later become PEG PESE. In the 1980s, they became pioneers in the shopping bag business, reaching the mark of 27 units distributed throughout the city of São Paulo.
